I'm not sure how I've read so many western historical romances and never yet discovered Linda Broday. Upon recommendation from a friend, I picked up this title and LOVED IT. From the ill-fated beginning through the satisfying and meaningful conclusion, this story was the least-mail-order-bride-like book I've ever read. With 'mail-order bride' in the title, I thought I knew what kind of a story I could expect, but Ms. Broday completely surprised me.

I loved the developing romance between Cooper--a rancher who loves deeply and well, but just not a woman--and Delta, who simply needs and craves the love only he can give her. Cooper needs the love and affection and absolution only she can give him. The town and Coop's brothers and special friends Delta makes along the way round out the cast of characters in a way that made me feel I'd found home in Battle Creek, Texas, too, and really wasn't ready to move on. I've already bought the next two books in the series--can't wait to see Rand and Brett find their happily-ever-afters.

If I could give this title 10 stars, I would, and do it honestly.
HIGHLY recommended to fans of the genre.
Sensuality Level: Hot (but not overly graphic or detailed)
Violence: Moderate (this is the wild west--so hold on to your hat!)

Truly enjoyed this love story. Great characters, well written and I found it very hard to put it down. Woman answers ad for a bride only to be turned down when she arrived. She decides to stay and starts a new life. Only gets interesting from there. You will enjoy the story.
This book was GREAT!! I LOVE mail order bride books and tough men that a woman can turn to mush!!! This book was sweet, tough, heartbreaking, romantic and just a great read. It was written to develops all the characters. Can't wait to read the next one in the series!!!
I love reading mail order bride books of the old west. It is hard to believe that these woman had the courage and strength to follow there dreams. This book went above and beyond my expectations. Loved the characters and hope there are follow up books about some of the characters. Enjoyed this book very very much
Cannot put it down! Story draws you in. Visual, engaging, emotional, heart renching, end leaves you wanting more. My first, but certainly not my last, Linda Broday book.
There are enough synopses to give a reader a good idea about the story; my intent is to applaud and endorse the author as writer and storyteller. Full disclosure--I have known Linda Broday for over two decades. She's lived all over Texas, and lived the life of The West. How she remains a true lady, I don't know, but she's a model for that, as well. If she hasn't walked the walk, as the saying goes, it isn't in her stories. That makes reading her work so much more appealing. Texas Mail Order Bride is the beginning of what I think is proving to be a beloved series. Cooper and Delta are in conflict from the first scene and they weave a believable and dear web as they defy odds and fall in love.

Give this book your time and you will be happy to be led to the next two--Twice A Texas Bride, and Forever His Texas Bride in The Bachelors of Battle Creek series.
Texas Mail Order Bride by Linda Broday kept me turning the pages from beginning to end. Needing to escape her hometown, Delta answers a mail order bride ad. An exchange of correspondence takes place before the groom sends for her, but when she arrives in Texas and meets Cooper, he has no idea who she is. Sadly, he breaks the news he never placed an ad and never wrote to her; hence, no wedding. Needing a fresh start from the awful childhood she left behind, Delta decides to stay in Cooper's town. Cooper can't really say he's unhappy with her decision. She is pretty, and she stirs something within him.

Ms. Broday brings to life a hero and heroine tormented by their pasts. I sympathized with Delta's longing for just one person to care about her, admired her tenacity to revive a shabby town through grace, dignity and honest friendship, and bonded with her during her cat-and-mouse relationship with Cooper. Cooper's determination to never be like his father and remain single also roused my sympathy. There's more to him than meets the eye, which Ms. Broday slowly revealed, and made me like him twice as much. And when trouble lands at Cooper's doorstep, watching him and Delta succumb to their feelings for one another while battling danger made for an exciting read. I look forward to reading the next book in this series.
